For the 7-day period before Easter, we will undertake a corporate consecration - prayer and fasting for the ministry of deliverance entrusted to us, spiritual breakthrough, health, healing, and the body of Christ as a whole. We are fasting from April 1 to April 7 - a total fast (no food, no liquids) from midnight to 3pm if you are able. We encourage the total fast to strengthen and build you up spiritually, but if you are unable to join us in this type of sacrifice (for medical reasons or other reasons), please consider some type of sacrifice so that you are a part of this corporate consecration. For example, the "Daniel Diet" is a regimen of mainly vegetables, fruit and water and requires abstinence from meat, carbonated beverages, sugar, fried foods, caffeine, white flour and products made with white flour, high fat products, and junk foods. "Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly...and cry unto the Lord" (Joel 1:14).

Fasting is one of the most powerful weapons of spiritual warfare that God has given us; it may weaken you physically as you crucify the flesh but will highly enlighen you spiritually. Fasting is the abstaining from food and liquids as you seek God in prayer. For those with medical or other concerns, a partial consecration can be substituted for the total fast (check with your physician first). Fasting must be combined with prayer for utmost effectiveness otherwise you are just depriving your body of food and not getting in touch with what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell you. The following is some helpful information and tips for fasting and is offered as a guide and is informational only - it is not meant to be professional advice.

PRECAUTION: First of all, please realize that fasting can have serious health effects. Everyone is asked to confirm with your personal physician that your health condition is suitable for fasting in any fashion. If taking any type of medication, also discuss this with your personal physician and determine how fasting will impact this. Children and minors should also get their parents or guardians permission before starting a fast.

PREP PERIOD (before the fast): If undertaking a prolonged fast, gradually cut your food intake instead of beginning immediately and then begin your fast; also stop drinking caffeine products a few days before you start the fast to get over any withdrawal headaches.

TIPS: Drink warm water instead of cold and do not drink too much at one time. Do not take excessively hot baths for this may cause dizziness; however take a bath regularly since fasting causes many impurities to be released through the pores of your skins causing odors. Do not engage in excess work or exercise. Walk, read, pray and worship during mealtimes to overcome temptations.

THREE PHASES OF A PROLONGED FAST: Phase 1 - craving food. Phase 2 - feeling weak and faint for 2-3 days or even longer. Phase 3 - growing stronger and no longer focusing on food.

BREAKING THE FAST: You should allow your body an adequate period of time to recover before resuming your regular diet. Start gradually and begin to build yourself back up.
